Club1630 Goes the Distance: A 5KM run with Blitz Bar

Manila, Philippines — For a club that started with shorter, more beginner-friendly kilometers, this felt like a milestone for Club1630. Not because 5K is some extreme distance, but because of what it represented.

Over the last few months, we’ve watched the community slowly grow into it. The same runners showing up week after week. People who started out pacing themselves through the first couple kilometers now finishing strong and immediately asking when the next run is. Conversations that used to happen while catching our breath now happen while cooling down over coffee after.

That kind of progress is easy to miss when you’re in it, but this run made it obvious: the community is getting stronger. So this wasn’t about forcing a bigger challenge just for the sake of it. A 5K simply felt like the natural next step and everyone showed up ready for it.

Showing Up for Each Other

One of the best parts of this club has always been the mix of people who join. Some runners came in chasing personal bests. Others were doing their first organized run ever. A few had never run 5 kilometers continuously before this morning.

That’s probably the thing we care most about with Club1630. We want running to feel approachable, not overly serious, intimidating, or performance-obsessed. You can come here trying to break a record or just trying to survive your first few kilometers. Both are equally welcome.

The shortlist capped at 70 runners, and it filled much faster than we expected. More than anything, that told us there’s a real appetite for this kind of space: a community where people can run hard if they want to, but still laugh through most of it.

Fueled by Blitz Bar

We’re also really happy to have partnered with Blitz Bar for this run. Nutrition is one of those things runners usually learn about the hard way. Most people don’t think much about fueling until kilometer four suddenly feels heavier than it should, or recovery the next morning hits harder than expected.

Blitz Bar came through with clean, functional fuel that fit the session perfectly. Nothing complicated, nothing excessive just something reliable that helped runners stay steady through the tougher parts of the route and recover a little better afterward.

A lot of people tried it for the first time during the run and ended up genuinely liking it. We did too.

What’s Next

This run felt like an important step for the club, but it also feels like the beginning of something bigger. We’re already working on the next one: more distance options for runners who want to push further, more beginner-friendly loops for people who are just starting out, and a few new partner spots we’re excited to introduce soon.

We’re learning as we go, building this thing one run at a time, and we’re grateful to everyone who keeps showing up and making it what it is. If you missed this one, don’t worry. There’ll be another.

Club1630 has always been about making running feel more social, more welcoming, and a little less intimidating. Whether you’re chasing a faster time or just trying to stay consistent, there’s space for you here.

See you at the next one.
